The menu is always prepared exactly to my liking with care and precision. I have yet to have a bad experience.
I have enjoyed the restaurant many times. Each time I was always greeted by some of the best smiles and service I have ever had.
When visiting the area, I make it a point to eat at the Open Range Steakhouse over anywhere in Gillette.
Chicken fried steak was best I've had and I travel alot!
My rig stays at a hotel in town, and most of the time I've ate at the Open Range it's been in the bar. The bartender seems to always be in a bad mood, is constantly outside smoking and doesn't even wash her hands when she comes back inside to serve food and drinks. The steaks are never cooked correctly for the price you have to pay for them. Over all my opinion is that it's overpriced and rude service. The only good experience I've had was in the early afternoon when a young lady with blonde hair served me. She was polite and well mannered. Food was also cooked a lot better than in the evenings.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I ordered the "surf and turf" which is steak and shrimp with a creamy lemon dill sauce. Very tasty. I got some of the Italian Wedding soup and was very pleasantly surprised by both the taste and texture. It's so nice to find such good food on the road.
My only bad experiences have been when someone else was on the grill or with the inexperienced service staff. If they are ever able to hire a staff to match the food, this place will really be an attraction.
I've been slowly trying to eat through the menu during my longer stays - though my fallback favorites are the filet minion and buffalo sirloin. I am constantly impressed with the quality and freshness of the meat - and almost always get a perfectly cooked steak when I see the big guy in the kitchen. (If you don't see him, their burgers are also superb).
